I met Megan and Sean at their place in the Northern Liberties section of Philly. From the second I walked in, I knew it was gonna be a lot of fun! Their puppy, Kells, greeted me right away with a big sloppy puppy kiss. I love dogs, and when engagement sessions include pets, it adds a level of fun and another member of the family .

After a short walk around the block. We headed down to Standard Tap, for a quick drink (who doesn’t like to loosen up a little bit). We hoped in the car and drove down to Old City for the second half of the shoot. While it was really windy out that day, it was otherwise a beautiful day!

New York City Engagement Session! – Chris & Nadia

I just got back in from a great engagement session with Chris & Nadia! The two of them actually made the trip from London and while in town we took the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful spots of New York. We visited Time Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Station. I can’t wait to go back as we only got to the tip of the iceburg.

Willeatha and Jason

Last weekend, I took a quick trip up to New York for Willeatha and Jason’s engagement session. Having proposed to Willeatha on the Brooklyn Bridge, they thought it would make for the perfect backdrop for their engagement session.

It was really fun to hang out with these two before their wedding on July 4th! They are both full of smiles and laughter

Lauren + Adam {Wedding} *Cindy Guessford

She brought them to me wrapped in their soft Prada cloth bag and when her hands reached in they slowly unveiled the most exquisite of shoes… The heels an intricate carving in blue so perfectly simple yet intricate at the same time suited Lauren and her taste. From the first moment that I met Lauren and Adam I could picture them existing in a time many years ago. A time where values and tenderness and old fashioned courtship and romance blossomed. A vintage like appearance and the kind of respectful, kind and genuinely lovely interaction could be witnessed. Today was no different than those first few interactions that I had with them. Lauren has planned every detail from the exquisite shoes, amazing dress, breathtaking bouquet, antique jewelry – and all because two kids fell in love =) The details could be seen throughout the day. So, with the smell of gardenia’s in the air I proceeded to document their day and to say that I was moved on several occasions would be an understatement. The weather could have been a hindrance to some but we were prepared come what may. Storm clouds invaded and loomed over us for most of the day but no worries, they just wanted to add a little drama =) I wanted to share a sampling of the images made that day because I just love them! Lauren’s grandfather was unable to attend the wedding so we paid him a little visit beforehand. The reaction he has to seeing his grand daughter is so touching. I know it was bittersweet for him but through his tears I could see the smile and glimmer of pride that he had for her. Not just his grand daughter anymore. Today a beautiful bride to be. Just one more evolution of life…

Craig: Jennifer & Omar’s St. Anne’s Wedding

Jenn and Omar may have had a windy, extremely rainy, day, but at least the best part was that if it had been colder we would have had 7 feet of snow! We all easily survived a bit of rain and took advantage of great locations and everyone’s positive attitude about the day. Rainy days at weddings are certainly a challenge, but I love finding locations that others may miss, and in this case, gave Jenn & Omar their first quiet moment of the day.

Why is Jenn’s hair blowing inside? Because the front door was open over 50 feet away and not only was it blowing, but it was raining inside!

This cracked me up…Dad said not to take that picture, but perhaps the last time Jenn can easily ask for money from Dad!

Omar’s family is from Peru, and the expression on his Dad’s face of seeing Jenn walking down the aisle was awesome.

Yeah it is okay to laugh and have fun during communion…I had to sneak this shot

Caught this little moment in the bridal suite…

This was a first, a “stripper”, clown, and their college mascot…long story, but the best man’s toast was a first for me.

Restrooms aren’t just for…well you know…restful moment.

This moment was shielded for me, but another reason to have a second photographer…thanks Heather for catching Dad’s reaction to Mother and Son dancing.

Sarah + Tom – Ski Engagement Shoot – Nicole Polk

Every time I meet with a couple and we talk about the engagement session, I always throw out little ideas I have – bowling, rides, snowboarding, etc.. for their session. I got so excited when Sarah told me that she and Tom wanted to do their engagement session on skis! Funny enough, we actually had too much snow for their originally scheduled date of the shoot. The roads were an absolute mess and didn’t think we could make it to the Poconos and back. Luckily, these big winter storms left us with plenty of snow to play with later in the month. We were able to get a beautiful day and some yummy post shoot waffles at the waffle hut on the mountain. Nothing is yummier than fresh waffles out in the cool winter air. First up, Sarah and Tom on skis. Tomorrow – Sarah and Tom in the parking lot. Yeah, that’s right, the parking lot. It’s good stuff, I promise

Craig: Snow + Fun Couple = Awesome Engagement Session

A few days before the first of two huge snow storms, Jackie emailed me and asked about doing their engagement session in the snow. We made Plan A and Plan B…we ended up with Plan B since there was two feet of snow falling on the first day. The Sunday after, however, was absolutely amazing. Not a cloud in the sky and Jackie and Mike could not have been more fun. Every idea I had, they loved, so we had a blast. Here are a few of my favorites!

Mazzy – Santa Barbara Portraits – Nicole Polk

While on my way home from photographing an engagement session in Santa Barbara, I was delayed at the Santa Barbara airport. With nothing to do, I decided to hang out right in front of the airport. It’s this tiny little building with some grass and a couple trees out front. So, I plopped myself under a tree and just reveled in the sunshine pouring through the branches. While daydreaming, I discovered this beautiful little creature, Mazzy climbing above my head! We hit it off immediately, both lovers of trees and after talking to Mazzy’s mom, had a little impromptu photo session! Hope you enjoy these Mazzy and Leslie! I’ll be back in LA and Santa Barbara for 2 weddings the 1st week of August for anyone who would like any kind of portrait session – engagement, family, kid, newborn, etc… Please let me know if you are interested in a shoot.

After Mazzy and co left for their flight, I made some other friends…Cinderella style!
